Advocacy Youth Club

Local Muscoy and surrounding area residents ages 12-18 years old who are interested in making a difference in the health of their community are invited to participate in a fun advocacy youth club.

We are seeking energetic, creative, and enthusiastic students to partake in Health Campaign activities to findsolutions for a healthier future in Muscoy and surrounding areas.

If you would like to:

The long term goals of the program are to engage local youth in health advocacy campaigns to generate future advocates who will create systems change within Muscoy. The program will utilize age appropriate, culturally sensitive curriculum to educate, but also build teamwork and positive relationships among middle and high school students with the intent to foster a peer/mentor system. The frequency of classes will be based on school schedules and transportation availability. Upon assessing the needs of their community, through their own perspective, the youth will develop a health campaign to address the issue(s) and report their findings at a Health Forum with colleagues, parents, elected officials, community members and through local media outlets.

About Us
Posted on February 8, 2013
The Latino Health Collaborative (LHC) was founded in 2004, with the goal of removing barriers within the public and private health systems that impact health and access to health care. Since then, LHC has grown to a coalition of more than 75 partners representing a wide swath of communities and disciplines, and is recognized for its expertise in coalition building, health advocacy, and community organizing. The group is a trusted resource to advise, train and consult community based organizations, non-profit organizations, and private and public agencies seeking to educate and encourage healthy lifestyles.

In 2012, LHC merged with Reach Out (we-reachout.org), one of the founding members of Latino Health Collaborative and an agency dedicated to strengthening communities in the region. The two organizations share a history of collaborative work, and have spearheaded both the San Bernardino County Capacity Building Consortium and the Inland Coalition Advancing Diversity and Education in the Health Professions. The agencies share mission alignment through their focus on systems-level strategies for health and place-based solutions to create healthy communities.
